I have all the symptoms for a yeast infection but instead of buying me Monistat like I requested my mom came home with a prescription drug called metronidazole vaginal gel from my uncle (who is a doctor). I have a never ending battle with BV, I try home remedies and eating alot of yogurt but nothing ever seems to help. I happened to have a leftover rx for Cephalexin and I was wondering if I could use it to save a trip to the doctor.

Nope. Cephalexin won’t treat BV. You need a new Rx.

BTW, unless you had a bad reaction to it, you should NEVER have any leftover antibiotics. You should take then all.

This is very true a course of anti biotics given to you by your doctor should be taken in full at the time or prescription. The anti biotics will not take effect if you do not take them all.

I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me I had bacterial vaginosis and she gave me some cream for it (similar to treatment for yeast infections) The directions werent clear on how long to keep it in there, or how soon it would work.
