I was told that a Bacterial Vaginosis infection was caused by not having enough "Good" Bacteria to help fight off the "Bad" Bacteria, thus allowing infection to occur. It can be caused by excess bacteria from many different sources, not just tampons and should be treated as soon as possible. It does not turn into hiv/aids or any other kind of std, but will grow worse if left untreated and will cause further problems. Keep the area clean and dry, go to your gynecologist and get it treated promptly and ask if you can use a regular vinegar/water douche to control the discharge.
