Can bacterial vaginosis cause a missed period?

I have been diagnosed as having bacterial vaginosis. My period is almost two weeks late now. I KNOW that I’m NOT pregnant because I have been practicing abstinence for the past year. Can this infection be the cause of my missed period? I have never missed a period, other than the time I was pregnant with my daughter so this is not a usual thing for me. I am a little bit worried. Thanks in advance to anyone that answers.

This condition does not normally affect the menstrual cycle.

I strongly suggest you contact your OB/GYN as soon as possible.

Now as a sidebar, don't worry. It is probably just the stress of worrying about this infection that is delaying your period.

But the best thing for you to do is to contact your doctor so he/she can put you at east.

Take care and I wish you well.

ever since i started my period when i was a 11 i never had a normal period
but from what the doctors told me there are many reasons why your period isnt normal
stress can stop a period and fast weight loss or gain can stop a period
that causes your hormones to go unbalanced

You should get a pregnacy test anyway, you could have been drugged and you wouldn’t remember it. There was a guy who did that and Dog the bounty hunter found him in Mexico and brought him back.

    WTF? LMAO.

But anyway, to the question i also have BV and i havent had a normal periods in years and im 23. I think i have one 2 or 3 times a year and they are very painful. I cant conceive either me and my fiance have been trying for 3 years now. I’m on Flagyl again (500ml highest dose) but this time i’m trying something different and i’m inserting it in vaginally instead of taking it orally and just yesterday my period came on! And call me crazy but i can also feel it working internall its like a really mild cramping but it doesnt hurt or anything.

I’m also wondering the same thing. I wish they did more clinical trials or open studies on BV i would sign up for everyone.
