The bumps are located on the outer lips and inner thigh. They aren't really painful but they are very itchy and irritated. Has anyone else noticed bumps down there in result of having a Bacterial Vaginosis infection?

I highly doubt that its anything serious. The skin down there is Probably just irritated. I've had that happen before with my BV. And I don't have herpes. I hope yours goes away and you never get it again. I've had BV ALOT this year… and it really sucks.

Treatment for Bacterial Vaginosis

There are both traditional and homeopathic treatments for bacterial vaginosis that you can take to ease the symptoms of the condition successfully. For most traditional treatments, you will need to talk to your doctor for the appropriate diagnosis and tests, while you will need to do a little research to find the home remedy that will work for your personal needs.

Traditional Treatment

When you visit the doctor for bacterial vaginosis, you can expect the doctor to take a sample of the fluids from the vagina to test for the condition. There are several tests that can be done to make sure that you do not have a more serious condition, such as a sexually transmitted disease, that are causing the symptoms to occur. It is often recommended that any woman who is experiencing these symptoms for the first time visit the doctor to make sure that they know what condition they are suffering from.

Most women who are suffering from bacterial vaginosis will receive treatment with antibiotics. You can choose either an oral or topical treatment, although most women choose the oral version since it is simple to take. Others may find that they have problems tolerating the oral medication, and instead prefer to use the topical treatment, instead. One of the main problems with using antibiotics to treat bacterial vaginosis is that it can cause yeast infections.

Homeopathic Remedies

There are also many different homeopathic, or all natural, remedies that you can use to treat this condition. You can find herbal remedies in pill form at your local health food store, or you can try altering your diet and adding a daily multi-vitaminnn to y. Foods such as white bread, sugar, and chocolate have all been linked to bacterial vaginosis in some women who suffer from the condition on a regular basis.

Other foods, such as yogurt, have helpful bacteria that can help prevent the condition if used consistently. It is also helpful to note that there are some everyday changes that you can make to help prevent the condition, such as wearing loose fitting clothing made of natural fibers, and eliminating douching from your regular routine. Some of these treatments may work for some women, while others will need to look for more options.

Seeing the Doctor

It is important that you see the doctor if you are pregnant, have recently had a new sexual partner, or if this is the first time that you have had bacterial vaginosis. Seeing the doctor will help to rule out any other condition, such as sexually transmitted diseases, that can have negative consequences if left untreated. Also, women who are pregnant, and suffering from bacterial vaginosis, you are at risk for preterm labor.

Treatment for bacterial vaginosis will only take about seven to ten days if you opt for a traditional medication, while prevention measures should be part of your everyday life if you have recurring episodes of the condition.

Last year May I was diag. with bacterial vaginosis and treated with a dose of 3 pills at one time. (I also had an abnormal pap & colposcopy which came out negative.) I did not feel right and went back recently. I was diag. with vaginosis again and was given Flagyl for 7 days. I saw my regular MD for the past month for other symptoms, after a urine test said I had a UTI and gave me a dose of Cipro (3 pills/3 days.) I have finished this dosing and still 2 weeks later know that I am not right. I am going to go back t the Gyn again for a 4th treatment. Before the summer I have never had anything like this not even a yeast infection.

I have been going to my MD for other symptoms such has palpitations, high blood pressure (145/100), dizzy spells, nausea spells, fatigue, headaches, ear infections, flushing, periods of low body temp (94 deg) and low pulse, night sweats, sleep apnea and brown spots on my back. Now Im just nervous that the bacterial vaginosis could be a sign something else??

after reading your last paragraph there I would suggest you get your ovaries and thyroid checked or even your pituitary checked, they all control certain (different) hormones and if anything is wrong with them then your hormones will be off balance too. hormones control more than just a person's reproductive drive, they also help regulate sleeping patterns, body temperature, body chemistry, balance..well just about everything really. so if your hormones are off, then everything else will be off too and even if the imbalance is not the direct cause then it still can open the way for other problems because of suppressing immunities.

Alternative treatments for bacterial vaginosis can work just as well as conventional treatments and have, in many cases, been proven to be more effective. Tampons or Pads?

Buying Pads really late at Acme. A tampon is a plug of cotton or other absorbent material inserted into a body cavity or wound to absorb bodily fluid. The most common type in daily use (and the topic of the remainder of this article) is a usually disposable plug that is designed to be inserted into the vagina during menstruation to absorb the flow of blood. The use of these devices has occasionally caused infection and (rarely) death (see Toxic shock syndrome). In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates tampons as medical devices. Tampons come in various sizes, which are related to their absorbency ratings and packaging.
The shape of all tampons is basically the same; long rounded cylinders. Tampons sold in the United States are made of cotton, rayon, or a blend of the two. Tampons are sold individually wrapped to keep them clean, although they are not sterile, nor are tampon companies required by law to list the ingredients in them. They have a string for ease of removal, and may be packaged inside an applicator to aid insertion.
Tampon applicators may be made of plastic or cardboard, and are similar in design to a syringe. The applicator consists of a bigger tube and a narrower tube. The bigger tube has a smooth surface and a round end for easier insertion. Some applicators have a star shape opening at the round end, others are open ended. The tampon itself rests inside the bigger tube, near the open end. The narrower tube is nested inside the other end of the bigger tube. The open end of the bigger tube is placed and held in the vagina, then the narrower tube is pushed into the bigger tube (typically using a finger) pushing the tampon through and into the vagina. If not inserted at a 45 degree angle it can cause discomfort and make removal difficult.
Digital or non-applicator tampons are tampons sold without applicators; these are simply unwrapped and pushed into the vagina with the fingers. Stick tampons are also available.
Probiotic tampons are available in Europe. These tampons can help prevent or cure vaginal infections, like Bacterial Vaginosis and/ or Candida, by strengthening the natural microbiotic vaginal flora. These tampons include probiotics, or three strains of lactic acid bacteria, which naturally occur in the healthy vagina. The vaginal flora of a healthy woman is dominated by lactic acid bacteria, which produce lactic acid as part of their metabolism. The lactic acid makes the vagina acidic, about pH 3.8 to 4.2. Most pathogens do not thrive in such an acidic environment. Therefore, lactic acid bacteria are part of the human female’s first line of defense against infection.
It is usually not necessary to remove a tampon before urinating or having a bowel movement. ampons are a menstrual device worn completely inside the vaginal canal with the exception of the string. This makes them suitable for wear during activities such as swimming. Menstrual blood is not exposed to the air with the use of tampons, so there is limited odor. There is no way to see that a woman is using a tampon when she is clothed, unlike sanitary napkins, which have outlines that can sometimes be seen through fabric. As a disposable product, there is no need to wash anything in between use. Info from Wikapedia

If you have a yeast infection, be prepared for a lot of discomfort. There are a number of symptoms associated with this condition. However, the most annoying are the itchiness and the burning. Many women choose a readily available remedy from the pharmacy to manage their symptoms. Typically, you’ll get quick relief from your symptoms with these treatments without a lot of fuss. But if you’re prone to recurring episodes of yeast infections, you will want to look into ways to prevent one in the future. If this is the case, your best course of action is to look into natural yeast infection treatment.

When you treat a yeast infection with medication, you’re really just getting rid of the external symptoms. You haven’t actually put a stop to the overgrowth of yeast that is at the root of your discomfort. But with the proper steps, there’s a good chance that you can keep from having as many yeast infections down the road.

The reason for a yeast infection is that the “good” and “bad” bacteria in your system have become unbalanced. There are several choices in natural treatments that will keep your good and bad bacteria in the right proportions, which is essential to preventing an excess of yeast in your system.

One of the most popular products to help prevent a yeast infection is garlic. You can either eat it raw or purchase it in capsule form. If you prefer popping a pill, aged garlic is generally considered to be the superior product. Another good suggestion is to apply treatment directly to the area where the outbreak is occurring. Apply garlic oil or extract directly to the affected area, or use some crushed cloves wrapped in gauze.

Another effective preventative treatment is to eat lots of yogurt. Check to be sure that the product is completely natural and lists live bacterial culture in the ingredients. These “good” bacteria are useful for keeping yeast from getting out of control in your digestive system. If you’re currently suffering from a yeast infection, apply it right on the problem area for fast treatment.

As well, you need to make some major changes to your eating habits. Yeast thrives on sugary foods and refined carbohydrates, so these things have to go if you want to get control of your problem. Alcohol should also be avoided, as it has the same potential to cause problems.

Advances in scientific research have come up with some great ways to treat the pain and discomfort of yeast infection symptoms. But if you follow the natural path, you can prevent the problem from occurring at all.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

I’ve been getting bacterial vaginosis every since I had my daughter 4 years ago. I’ve also been on Ortho Evra for the past 4 years. Has anyone else had this problem? And where can I buy acidophilus pills? Do they really help prevent BV?

I know of a few ladies that tried the Ortho-Evra patch but none of them ever had a problem with recurrent bacterial vaginosis.

The acidophillous can be of help in trying to prevent BV but they do a better job at trying to prevent yeast infections.

You can find acidophillous pills in places like Wal-Mart

I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor as well to see what she says.
